About the Artist

Using Paint to Share the Beauty I See
I live just west of Charlottesville, Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We moved to this rural setting from Washington, DC over twenty years ago. Here we raised three children, and I had a successful career as a contractor for EPA’s Office of Air. In November 2025, I began life as a full-time painter.
I aim to paint every day. Sometimes I’m refining a painting begun outside; sometimes I’m out painting new paintings. I’m also playing around with abstraction and mediums. I travel frequently, participating in organized plein air events, and other more relaxed opportunities with artists. I attend monthly critiques with artist friends and volunteer in the local art scene.
I am drawn to landscape and atmosphere. I like to experiment with color and the laying on of paint. I am learning as I go. I enjoy painting with oils, and doing quicker sketches with gouache. But I’m open to other mediums, and recently have enjoyed playing with inks and pastels.
